20 Watt Solid State 1x10 Amplifier featuring single channel with Gain, Master Volume, 3 band EQ and Line Headphone Out in Excellent condition.
Circa 1986.
Made in the UK, along side the ever popular JCM800 Series of Tube Amplifiers and the lesser known/seen Artists and Studio Tube Amp Series.
These Solid State Marshall's were, at the time, an offering of an in-expensive, small amplifier that would create that Marshall Sound. And they did.
Did so much that Billy Gibbons used the Lead 12 Amplifier on many of the ZZ Top recordings.
That became the lore of the Lead 12 Amp.
The Lead 20 amplifier has it's own "Legendary" users, most notable was Tom Morello - of Rage Against the Machine - used the Lead 20 for tracks on the Evil Empire album.
The thing about these Soild State Amplifiers from the 80's, is that they really did design them to sound like their Tube Counterparts. Marshall and Randall had many top players using them. There are numerous examples of both the Marshall and Randall Solid State amps being used in the Studio and Live by touring musicians, especially in the "Hard Rock" world... just ask George Lynch of Dokken fame.
The other thing, and what helps contribute to their sound, is that they weren't experimenting with Class D power Amps - what most use today, that enable you to have a 200 watt amplifier head that weighs 3lbs.
These sound like their tube counterparts, and in most cases, weighed the same too.
And, they were quite loud!
All and all, the Lead Series are great sounding, loud, made in England amplifiers.
Because of the lore of Billy Gibbons using the Lead 12, this Lead 20 is sort of a sleeper.
Don't sleep on this one!

Original Celestion 10" Speaker and a shared Line Out/Headphone out.
