Original Digital Delay pedal circa 1984 featuring up to 800ms of delay time, hold feature and stereo out in Very Good Condition.
In 1983 the DD-2 Digital Delay pedal was created and, a year later, this little guy (pictured here) was born.
BOSS engineers did a fantastic job fitting the BIG CHIP that was in the SDE-3000 Rack Mount digital delay into their compact pedal design. A pretty impressive design.
That Big Chip spans the width of the circuit board and is , along with the circuitry and A/D converter, repsonsible for that warm 12 bit digital delay sound. Not exactly Analog sounding, but very warm and popular among many players.
The Original DD-3 Delay Pedals, which replaced the DD-2, were exactly the same pedal, just re-branded. They did this as parts/chip prices came down in 1096. Shortly after, the BIG CHIP was replaced with a smaller one. Some claim that the DD-3 is The Best sounding digital delay pedal, and that claim probably originated from those original DD-3's that has the original Chip and A/D converter.
This features up to 800ms of Delay time, stereo out and a Hold function - for a very short looped "sample" of a quickly played chord or note(s).
A fantastic sounding delay.
This Consignment pedal is in Very Good Condition - missing the original label and one back plate screw. Made in Japan circa 1984.
