What's cool about Bartolini Pickups? Lots!
First of all, they sound really good. This isn't a hate for EMG pickups, but they have, in the past, been mistaken for "another set of EMG style pickups". Not true.
Since the start, every pickup has been through extensive testing, and the quality control -not to mention the consistant tone- has been recognized by players around the world.
Before the pickups were branded "Bartolini" they were "HI-A" and were one of the first "preamplified" pickup systems.
Oh yeah, Kurt Cobain used Bartolini pickups in one of his custom made Jazzmaster.
The Bartolini pickups can be used passive or with their active preamp system.
This set of E88's are the same. They can be used passive or, with the two 9 volt battery clips, be used in an 18 volt pre-amp setup.
These pickups came out of a Les Paul that someone had installed with the 18 volt pre amp. They sounded Great! For reference, that some may get, they sounded like fantastic vintage style humbuckers with an Alembic Strat-o-Blaster preamp.
In other words, a great set of Vintage style humbuckers with a 20+db Clean Boost pedal.
You can buy various Bartolini preamps from their website and, in most cases, they'll wire up with 18 volts giving you an additional 6db+ of clean headroom.
The web site also has extensive wiring diagrams too.
These Consignment pickups are in excellent condition. 2 Conductor and sold with the 2 batter clips.
