This Custom Shop pickup was wound by The Queen Of The Custom Shop - MJ and features the correct 2 conductor braided wire. This one is straight from the Custom Shop and loaded with intimate knowledge of the original. The original late '70s "Brown Sound". The ’78 started life as a PAF rewind for a scrappy young player that all of us owe some thanks to.

The recipe for the pickup itself is traditional, but the special coil wind with 42 gauge plain enamel wire, hand-calibrated Alnico 2 magnet, and strict output tolerance makes sure that each one sounds like the original.

Perfect pickup for those "VH" style riffs that combine chords and lead lines together and it's extremely sensitive to dynamics. Ed use to make use of his volume quite frequently back in "the day" and the Frankenstein responds the same as his original.
