Fender Josefina Hand Wound Tomatillo Telecaster Pickup Set

These incredible Telecaster "Tomatillo" pickups were hand-wound in the Fender Custom Shop by the legendary Josefina Campos, whose history with Fender is a direct link to the golden era of Fender production, and electric guitar making at large. These pickups are in high demand by the Fender Custom Shop, so not many make it to the retail consumer market. The vast majority of these pickups are reserved for guitars in the $5000+ range, but we were lucky enough to receive a set of these rare gems.

These pickups are built around AlNiCo 2 magnets which simulate a 1950s era AlNiCo 5 magnet which has mellowed out and lost some magnetism over time. This formula results in a chimy, open, airy sounding pickup set. The neck pickup features a cut-out cover which imparts additional clarity and top-end sparkle.
