Music Lesson Info

Here’s a quick overview of how our music lesson program works:

Our private, one-on-one lessons cost $31 per half hour, $62 per hour. We provide only individual music lessons rather than group or classroom settings because we know that every student learns at a different pace. When you have more than one student per teacher, the student that is learning at the slowest rate gets most of the teacher’s attention.
At Gear Music, we will provide you with a mutually agreed-upon timeslot that will be your permanent weekly lesson appointment. This timeslot will stay the same unless you tell us you need to change or stop your music lessons. We require 24 hour notice if you are discontinuing your lessons. If we do not have 24 hour notification, the instructor will charge you for that last lesson

Payment:

Your credit card information is securely entered through our student portal and processed through Stripe. The charge for your lessons will be processed on that card on the Friday before the 1st of each month.
If you have a credit card on file, but wish to pay for your lessons by cash or debit card, you must pay before the first of every month. This way your credit card will not be charged.
Gear Music DOES NOT share any personal information regarding our students to anyone at anytime. Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us.
There is currently no tax on music lessons so the payments are generally $112 or $140 per month depending on the number of days in the month. You will not be charged for lessons that do not occur due to statutory holidays.

Cancellation policy:

Gear Music has a NO CANCELLATION POLICY. What does this mean? It means that if you miss your music lesson at Gear, you will be charged for the lesson by your teacher. This follows the same model as any sports or continuing education activity. We understand, however, that people need a few days off throughout the year for vacation, or unforeseen circumstances, so we allow for two weeks ‘vacation’ annually. (two lessons off, per student, per year) This means that you will not be charged for those two lesson days whenever you want to take them. You can use these “vacation days” anytime throughout the year.. We would appreciate as much notice as possible when redeeming your vacation days, but if you have to be away at the last minute, just inform your instructor and someone at the sales counter, so that you won’t be charged for that week or two. When you take your vacation weeks, those payments will move forward to the next month as a credit. Our teachers are professionals, most with a degree in music, or at least 10 years experience as a professional musician. This is how they make their living, and they expect their students to be there every week. Remember your instructor is here at Gear waiting for you, because that is your scheduled, pre-approved timeslot. If you are at your lesson every week than you don’t have to worry about the cancellation policy, you’ll be too busy learning to play music!
Music lessons provide much more than simple proficiency in music. We at Gear are excited to welcome you to the joy, confidence, fun and passion that is music.
