Hunter Coyle - Drums
Hunter started playing drums at the age of 12 in middle school, a few years later he was attending an arts high school for music and became the lead drummer for ensembles and musicals. While in high school he was recording in studios, playing for competition winning ensembles and orchestras and playing at music festivals. Now he is studying at Humber College, where he has studied with some of the best teachers in Canada such as Ben Ball, Steve Mancuso, Marito Marques and now currently studying with the Grammy Award winning drummer Larnell Lewis.
Hunter has a well rounded musical knowledge with expertise spanning from jazz, r&b, latin, pop, rock, hip hop and a strong grasp on classical and world percussion, so he is able to support your musical goals and interests with an investment to the individuality of each student. He has a fundamentals focused approach which cuts through the noise to help you get better faster and builds on the very basis of technique, time and feel in a nuanced way to have you feeling confident in your playing no matter the situation. Hunter’s view on teaching comes from a place of deep admiration, appreciation and respect of music of all sorts and emphasizes that the journey of learning and improvement should come from enjoyment, fun and connection above all else.
