USED Harmony H-19 Silhouette / Bobkat / Color Kat 1960's
The top of the line Harmony Solidbody Guitar from the 60's.
Originally produced as the "Silhouette" model ranging from H14 - H19 (no H-18)
and then re-named the 'Bob Kat' in 1967, the H-19 was discontinued in 1968 (ish)
The Harmony 'Silhouette' solid bodies were launched in 1963.
The "top of the line" H-19 model featured a slightly larger body than the other models and a Hagstrom bridge and vibrato system - also seen on Guilds at the time.
The Color Kat was the H-16 model available in 3 different solid colors - Candy Apple Red, Gleaming White and Metallic Blue. It was the only model available in a solid color.
What we have here is a H-19 Bob Kat / Silhouette that someone wanted to turn in to a Color Cat.
This features...
Larger 'Jazzmaster' style H-19 body that has been re-finished (really well) in a Candy Apple Red finish.
Original H-19 neck features the Block Inlays, rounded head stock shape that still retains the original Shaded Cherry Red color matched headstock - to what was the original body finish.
The back of the neck has had the finish sanded off down to the bare wood.
Original De Armond Golden Tone Four Scroll 'Moustache' soapbar pickups with adjustable polepieces.
Original Hagstrom Vibrato trem and Bridge unit.
Original Wiring harness and selector switch.
Here's a bit of a mystery - the pickguard.
The original pickguard would have been a tortoise shell style guard.
All other Bob Kat models featured a white single ply guard like this one.
This is the same dimensions as the original Tortoise guard and looks done from the factory (!) 99% it is an aftermarket guard that was made but there is a chance it was made by Harmony.
Made in Chicago USA, sometime between 1963 and 1967.
Overall in Excellent condition - a very cool little American Solidbody Electric!
All original, excellent condition H-19's are selling for over $1000 CDN - a great chance to get a more 'player grade' version in excellent condition!
